چکیده

In a multiagent system, conflicts may arise because of two basic reasons: 1) different agents have contrasting goals; 2) different agents have inconsistent knowledge. This situation can originate when agents are autonomous and strongly motivated by their own interests, and when heterogeneous agents, with different skills, ‘histories’ and beliefs, coexist in a dynamic environment. This paper is focused on the representation of two agents’ epistemic conflicts, originated by the presence of contrasting beliefs. In such a situation, for an agent ‘S’ to agree on a cooperative plan with another agent ‘H’ it is necessary to communicate and solve the conflicts which could prevent the realisation of the specific plan identified. In order to do this, S must be able to reason about H’s beliefs and goals. This requires S to maintain an adequate representation of H’s mental states and to use this model to develop a plan for communication which will persuade H to adopt the cooperative goal. In this paper we introduce and formalise a discoursegeneration oriented model of beliefs which uses the concept of ‘event’ as fundamental unit for the knowledge representation. The basic features of the model defined include a qualitative degreesof-belief approach to represent uncertain beliefs, two-level nested mutual beliefs expressions and beliefs grounding through rationality and experience.

Fuzzy Complexity Analysis with Conflict Resolution for Educational Projects

Evaluative and comparative analysis among educational projects remains an issue for administration, program directors, instructors, and educational institutes. This study reports a fuzzy complexity model for educational projects, which has two primary aspects (technical aspects and transparency aspects). These aspects may not be measured precisely due to uncertain situations. Therefore, a fuzzy...

Solving Conflicting Beliefs with a Distributed Belief Revision Approach

The ability to solve conflicting beliefs is crucial for multiagent systems where the information is dynamic, incomplete, and distributed over a group of individuals. The individual agents have partial views and, frequently, hold disparate beliefs regarding shared information. The nature of these conflicts is dynamic and requires adequate methodologies for dynamic conflict resolution. The propos...

Analysis of mental attributes for the conflict resolution in multiagent systems

This study addresses the problem of constructing an adequate strategy for conflict resolution in the situations with high uncertainty and inconsistent goals. We develop the formal representation for such concepts as informing, deceiving, explaining, offending, forgiving, pretending, reputation etc. to model the various four, as of multiagent conflict behavior. These concepts are defined in the ...

Conflict Management in Sensible Agent-based Systems

In this paper, an approach of conflict classification and detection is proposed in a domain independent framework for conflict management, and deployed in Sensible Agent Architectures. Sensible agents are agents that operate in a multi-agent based system with the ability to dynamically adapt their level of autonomy. Conflicts are classified as goal, plan and belief conflicts. It is shown that s...

Modelling Argumentation and Belief Revision in Agent Interactions

We describe a model for resolution of belief conflicts by argumentation in agent interactions, based on aspects of dialogic logic, speech act theory and belief systems research. This is part of a long term project on the relations between argumentation and cognitive change in collaborative problemsolving interactions. A set of communicative acts for argumentative interaction is defined, based o...
